A Thing of Beauty

This was my dinner last evening. I made a bowl from a flour tortilla and filled it with seasoned chicken, salsa, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, and a dollop of sour cream. It was a thing of beauty. I admired it for a few seconds, and then snapped a photo. My husband just shook his head.

It was worth the picture…I burned the first two bowls in the oven. The chicken scorched my fingers as I chopped it into small pieces. At the same time, the fideo needed constant stirring as it was in danger of going up in smoke, causing me to break into a sweat. The stuffed “bowl” actually turned over twice on the plate, dumping everything inside onto the plate, countertop, and floor. Somehow, sour cream found its way onto my sleeve. Pans, salsa, and olives were everywhere!

You bet it’s a thing of beauty! Like gaining territory after a difficult battle, it deserved some celebrating. There should be photographs and speeches (I now have both).

I fought dinner, and I won!
